According to President Ranil Wickramasinghe’s concept, school children have been given an opportunity to visit places with educational value around Colombo, including the Presidential Secretariat and the President’s house.
Accordingly, today (29) 107 students representing the Royal College of Colombo which is the Alma mater of President Wickramasinghe visited the Presidential Secretariat and the President’s house and had a friendly discussion with President Ranil Wickramasinghe at the Presidential Secretariat.
The President briefed the students about the political history of Sri Lanka and the great political leaders born through the Royal College.
Mr. Colvin R de Silva and Mr. JR Jayawardena were students of the same class at the Royal College of Colombo. Mr. Jayawardena becoming the first executive president of the country is a unique milestone.
Also, President Ranil Wickramasinghe recalled that the President and the Prime Minister are former students of the Royal College of Colombo.
As these children are the future political leaders of the country, the President pointed out the importance of everyone being resolutely engaged in their educational activities and congratulated them for their future educational activities.
Presidential Director of Youth Affairs and Sustainable Development Randula Abeyweera, Assistant Director (Trial Forces Defense Affairs Coordination) Major DGNP Dangolla, and a group of lecturers from the Royal College of Colombo were present on this occasion.
