A 26-year-old young mother has died this afternoon (06) after a cesarean section performed in the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for her first delivery sources said.
After being admitted to the intensive care unit due to unexpected complications during the cesarean section performed on the Tuesday (04), she died while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit for three days.
Although she was admitted to the Peradeniya Hospital for delivery without any complications, it is reported that within a few minutes of the anesthetic drug given for the cesarean section, complications started to appear.
Among the most severe complications, the mother was immediately referred to the intensive care unit after giving birth to the child. But this young mother passed away in the intensive care unit of the Peradeniya hospital this afternoon after the situation became serious day by day.
The child is reported to be in good health. The body of the mother has been buried in the mortuary of Peradeniya Hospital.
So far, no specific cause of death has been found. The cause of death is to be ascertained after the post-mortem which will be conducted tomorrow afternoon.
