Rosy Senanayake’s husband passes away

Athula Senanayake, the husband of Colombo Mayor and former beauty queen Rosy Senanayake has passed away. He was 64 at the time of his death. According to close friends of the family, he had suffered a sudden illness.

Athula Senanayake was a prominent hotelier. He was the son of Stanley Senanayake, a former Inspector General of Police, and Maya Senanayake, the daughter of the founder of Nalanda college P. de S. Kularatne (MP).

He was a product of Ananda College, where one time his grandfather Mr. P De S Kularathne was the Principal.

Mr. Athula Senanayke married Rosy in 1980 just five weeks after their first encounter. They have met in London but were living in Sri Lanka. Athula and Rosy have three children namely Kanishka is Thisakya and Radhya Kanishka Senanayake who is the eldest contest for Colombo district under Samagi Jana Balawegaya ticket for the general election of 2020.

Being a seasoned restaurateur He has debuted his career as a management trainee. He has undergone hospitality training in few hotels including Intercontinental Hotel. Later Mr. Senanayake had gained experience overseas too. In 1991 he started his own food and beverage business under Don Stanley’s brand. He was managed to start a % star class restaurant and catering company. He pursued his own interest in Food and Beverage as a business. Named his first 5-star Restaurant ‘DON’s down Horton Place, and later the renowned ‘ FAT CRAB ‘ in Bambalapitiya.
