Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake after a long hiatus has visited the United National Party (UNP) headquarters Sirikotha today. For a while, Senanayake has been avoiding the party and was also at the risk of losing her post as the Mayor of Colombo.

The meeting today had been organized for the municipal members of the party and was led by UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe. According to party sources, Senananayke had also expressed her views during the meeting.

Her son will be contesting as a candidate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya from the Colombo district at the upcoming polls and Senanayake has been a known supporter of Sajith Premadasa in the recent past.

However after discussions on removing her as the Mayor of Colombo due to her not attending party meetings, and her lack of support to the party, it is said she has decided to remain independent.
