Mr. Thushan Gunawardena, the recently resigned Executive Director Consumer Affairs Authority has lodged a complaint with the Kirulapone Police alleging that he was frightened by a group of suspects who had arrived in a white van near his house and that his life had been threatened.
He also says that a neighbor who saw the man who got out of the white van on the road behind his house last Thursday checked the number used on the gate and said that this is the house.
Speaking to the Lankadeepa newspaper, Thushan Gunawardena has stated that although he had complained to the CID about a month ago that he had received death threats, he had not yet obtained a statement regarding it.
