UNP leader & former PM Ranil Wickremesinghe will be represented in the recently established Economic Council by the government, reliable sources said.
The above sources say that Ranil Wickremesinghe is being included in the Economic Council at the request of government and opposition politicians and economic experts.
This Economic Council has been appointed to find a solution to the severe economic crisis facing the country.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa have nominated Highways Minister Johnston Fernando, Agriculture Minister Mahindanan Aluthgamage and Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena for the Economic Council. In addition, the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank and the Deputy Governor were nominated to the Council.
