President Ranil Wickremesinghe who is contesting as an independent candidate received Gas Cylinder as his symbol.
He is promoted in the election campaign as the leader who eliminated gas and fuel queues .
Distribution of points to the candidates was done by the Election Commission after accepting the nominations.39 candidates are running for this year’s presidential election.
After handing over the nominations President Wickemesinghe went to Kandy and pay homage to the Sri Dalanda Maligawa and received the blessings.
