Ranil reveals a plan to surround his house : admits the House is a den of rogues

Former Prime Minister and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament today that a plan was underway to surround his private residence tomorrow (Saturday). The allegation, he said, was that he has canvassed in the Parliament lobby for Ranjith Siyamabalpitiya concerning Deputy Speaker stakes. TNA Parliamentarian Shnakaya Rasamanikkam is part of the plan hatched surreptitiously.

Rejecting the claim by Shankayan Rasamanikkam, Mir Wickremesinghe said that the opposition in principle agreed to support the candidature of Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and that he has spoken about that with several TNA Parliamentarians.

“It was a total distortion to say that I was supportive of the government”.

Mr. Wickremesinghe reiterated that he was against the government and he would support the No Confidence Motions brought by the opposition against the Prime Minister and the President. He also said that if the opposition benches are averse to this, he could stay away.

The former Prime Minister who revealed that there was a plan to surround his private residence at the fifth lane, said plans are also afoot to bring Aruni W, Krishan Karunaratne and crowds from Kolonnawa for the purpose.

“People are cursing the entire Parliament that we argue and waste public money. What have we done?  Have we done anything to resolve the crisis and Parliament has been reduced to a talk shop? No sooner it will become redundant.

We have to admit that Parliament is a den full of rogues if we do not do anything to resolve the crisis now, the peoples’ wrath will befall us, and probably, they would surround the House and chase all of us away.”

“See what has happened in Ampara yesterday. If the people decide to surround the houses of the Parliamentarians, what would be the position”? The former Prime Minister said.
