A protest was held in front of the Galle bus stand this afternoon (14) against the sale of state property in Galle, including the transfer of the land where the Galle Port, Galle Police and Post Office are located on a thirty year lease basis.

The protest was organized by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP). Protesters displayed placards with slogans against the sale of national property.

The protesters called on the people to unite to save the Gintota timber Corporation, Galle Hilltop House, Walahanduwa Estate, Baddegama Pilagoda Estate and other state property.

Former JVP members of the Southern Provincial Council Nalin Hewage and Ratna Gamage were among those who joined the protest.
