Despite the retraction, Kensington Palace clarified that the original unedited version of the photo would not be reissued. The picture depicts Catherine surrounded by her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and was intended as an amateur family photograph to mark Mother’s Day.
Royal sources emphasized that the adjustments made by Catherine were minor, implying that they were simply enhancements to capture the family moment more effectively. Five photo agencies retracted the image over manipulation concerns, with AP, Reuters, AFP, Getty Images, and PA withdrawing it from circulation. These agencies adhere to strict guidelines regarding photo accuracy and manipulation, only allowing minor adjustments under certain circumstances.
