Payment of the electricity bill amounting 22 million rupees in the President’s Secretariat has been completely defaulted, Ranjan Jayalal, General Secretary of Ceylon Electrical Workers’ Union claims.
The union secretary said that this money was supposed to be paid for the operation of the elevators and air conditioners in the secretariat, but the money was defaulted and the electrical services were procured from an outside agency.
Ranjan Jayalal said that when the Electricity Board is suffering so much losses, it is an unfair and shameful act by the President’s Secretariat.
