The Public Utilities Commission has decided to extend the power cut from today again. Janaka Ratnayake, Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission stated that there will be a two-hour power cut from 4.30 pm to 10.30 pm tonight.
Matugama, Thulhiriya, Kolonnawa, Kerawalapitiya West Coast, Sapugaskanda two power plants and the Kelanitissa power plant are currently inactive.
It is reported that the Kelanitissa Combined Cycle Power Plant will also have to be shut down at 7.30 pm tonight due to insufficient fuel, Naphtha.
The power cuts are being announced against the backdrop of no plans to supply fuel to the power outages.
