The police have initiated an investigation to arrest a person who brought the President’s official flag to disrepute during the recent public protest in Colombo.

A video shared on social media shows the man lying on the bed with the flag used as a bedspread.

He has allegedly said that he will burn and destroy the official flag of the President.

The police said they are aware of the identity of the person who took the flag after the public stormed the President’s office in Colombo on July 09through the CCTV footage.

Noting that the suspect was walking with the flag wrapped around his waist, the police said they started an investigation based on the CCTV evidence.

However, the current Executive President Ranil Wickremesinghe has abolished the presidential flag. He said that the President does not need a special flag. The national flag alone is enough for a country.
