The police prevented the march organized by the Electricity Users’ Association from Dibulapiti intersection to Colombo against the increase in electricity bills and arrested 6 people including Sanjiva Dhammika, the Secretary of the Electricity Users’ Association who organized the protest march.
After the police warned them not to go on this march, a heated situation arose between the people who joined the march and the police.
At the same time, the chairman and the group are arrested by the police. It is reported that the arrested persons are currently detained at Divulapitiya Police Station.
Due to this protest, the Colombo Kurunegala bus route number 05 has been blocked since this morning (01).
