The Ministry of Health has decided to give the Covid booster vaccine with Pfizer to all people over the age of 20.
Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Director General of Health Services will issue a circular in this regard immediately, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Heman Herath said.
After being informed by the Medical Officer of Health in the area, the Deputy Director General urges the public to go to the relevant office and get the vaccine and not to cause unnecessary disturbances.
Dr. Herath said that the booster vaccine will be given to all those over 30 years of age, but today it was decided to increase the age limit to 20.
In addition, it has been decided to give a single dose of the Pfizer vaccine to children between the ages of 12 and 15, and in the future, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, action will be taken to implement this in schools, said Dr. Hemantha Herath.
He also said that the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, which has been given to children between the ages of 16 and 19, will be given in the near future.
He added that in the future, the Faizer Booster vaccine will be given to all those over the age of 18 who go to work.
The Ministry of Health states that this program is being implemented with the aim of preventing the spread of the omicron virus and protecting the lives of the people.
