Persons under quarantine at their homes will be given the opportunity to vote at the upcoming General Elections according to Chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya. The Commissioner revealed this on a visit to Jaffna yesterday (14).
The Chairman visited Vavuniya, Jaffna, and Mullaitivu to observe the preparations for the elections in the North.
Following a discussion with election officials and the Jaffna District Secretary Kanapathipillai Mahesan at his office, the Chairman said those under quarantine will be able to vote between 4 pm – 5 pm on the day.
During the visit, the Chairman of the Elections Commission said that the government should publish the gazette notification containing the health rules and regulations as soon as possible as the election will be held respecting the health rules and regulations.
