The Speaker summoned a special party leaders meeting at 2.00 PM toady to discuss about the immediate steps to be taken on current economic and political crisis. It will be held in a committee room of the Parliament.

The Speaker took this decision after various political leaders expressed their views on the situation in the country since the commencement of Parliament.

The need for this meeting of party leaders was first suggested by former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. He called on the party leaders to convene an immediate meeting as parliament has a huge responsibility to take a quick decision on the crisis in the country.

The same idea was put forward by several political leaders including Vasudeva Nanayakkara and Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
