Officials from Sri Lanka’s Parliament have asked 108 former Members of Parliament (MPs) to vacate their residences in the Madiwela MP quarters as soon as possible. This decision was made due to the need for urgent renovations.

A parliamentary officer told Lankadeepa Newspaper that six MPs have already moved out. There are around 120 houses in the Madiwela housing complex, and the remaining ones are occupied by officers, including security staff.

The heads of Parliament decided to renovate the complex to prepare for the newly elected MPs who will take office after the upcoming General Elections.
