Nearly 1,280 police officers of various ranks, including senior police officers, are due to retire on the first of January next year due to implementing the 60-year rule as the retirement age.
Police sources said that 2023 would go down in history as the year when a large number of police officers will retire. Among the police officers due to retire are two Senior DIGs, eight DIGs, 17 Senior Superintendents of Police, 21 Assistant Superintendents of Police, and 35 Chief Inspectors of Police.
He further pointed out that if a large number of police officers retired at the same time, there may be hindrances to maintaining the duties of the police.
