OIC Rajagiriya transferred over the death of Sudharma Nethucumara’s maid

OIC of Rajagiriya Police Station has been transferred with immediate effect regarding the death of well-known business personality Sudharma Nethicumara’s housemaid who died in police custody. The OIC of Welikada Police has been transferred to the Police Field Force Headquarters today (27).

The Criminal Investigation Department carried out an investigation into the death of the woman in question to find out whether there was any negligence or intentional wrongdoing by the police officers.

Accordingly, based on the recommendations of the relevant investigation, the Inspector General of Police has ordered the suspension of 04 officers.

It was a sub-inspector, two police sergeants and a police constable involved in Rajakumari’s investigation.

In addition, a police constable and two female police constables have been transferred to the three police divisions of Colombo North, Colombo Central and Colombo South.

Investigations into the related theft and the woman’s death have been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department and the investigations are currently underway.
