Nominations Open for Sri Lanka’s LG Polls

Nominations for Sri Lanka’s local government elections will open today (17). According to the Election Commission, The nomination period will continue until noon on the 20th.

A total of 336 local government elections are set to take place, with the election date to be announced after the nomination process.

Meanwhile, the deadline for submitting postal vote applications is midnight today. The Election Commission urges eligible applicants who have not yet applied to refrain from submitting their applications via post. Instead, they should personally deliver them to the District Election Office in the district where their institution is located.

Additionally, the Election Commissioner General has requested candidates to submit their nominations in a way that does not disrupt the Ordinary Level examinations, which also begin today.
