An official of Prime Minister’s Media Division says the rumours circulated about the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa are completely false. He further said that the PM has not been notified of his resignation until this afternoon.
The official told when the Lankasara inquired about some social media reports saying Prime Minister Rajapaksa has told some officials of the Temple Trees that he was willing to resign and work with a new Prime Minister.
Stepping down from Premiership of Mahinda Rajapaksa, two time elected president who is serving over 50 years in the Parliament was a widely discussed topic in some political circles even the last week.
According to reliable sources, the government will be able to resolve the internal crisis and appoint a new Prime Minister.
However the Prime Minister’s Media Unit has denied all those as rumours.
