There are no signs that passengers including Iran President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others are alive, Iran Red Crescent says after they reached the wreckage of the crashed helicopter.
The search was strengthened as the dawn of Monday and they could locate the helicopter.
According to the rescue team who told Aljazeera the entire cabin of the helicopter is significantly damaged and burned. They have further said that they could not find any sign of life as of now.
Some media reports said that although the rescues recovered some burnt bodies they cannot be identified clearly.
Fears have grown that had been growing for the 63-year-old President and 60-year-old Foreign Minister are dead.
Although the rescue operation began soon after hearing of the incident heavy fog bad weather and the dark hampered yesterday’s efforts. However, they continued the operation for over 15 hours throughout the night and finally found the wreckage of the ill-fated helicopter. The helicopter started its journey from the Azerbaijan-Iran border after the President opened a dam project there with his Azer counterpart.
President Raisi’s convoy had included three helicopters and the other two had reached the destination safely Iran reports said.
Several neighboring countries assisted in the rescue mission. Accordingly, a Turkish drone has detected the accident site and they have informed Iranian rescue teams.
Foreign media report that 73 rescue teams are involved in the search operation. out of the 40 teams are from Iran Red Crescent.
Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Russia, and Turkey responded with offers of their support immediately. European Union also activated its rapid response mapping service to aid the search effort.
