Professor Manjula Fernando, the Chairman of Sri Lanka Public Utilities Commission, has confirmed that there will be no revision of electricity tariffs this year.
He stated during a press conference held yesterday (04) that there have been no requests from the Electricity Board regarding tariff revisions, and the process of tariff revision is typically carried out twice a year, every six months.
This statement comes in response to recent claims by the Electricity Users Association, who had announced that the Ceylon Electricity Board had submitted a request to the Utilities Commission for the third time this year to revise electricity tariffs. However, Professor Fernando clarified that no such request has been received, and therefore, there will be no changes in electricity tariffs at this time.
