Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party Imran Khan was arrested while he was in his residence in Lahore this evening shortly after an Islamabad trial court declared him guilty of “corrupt practices” in the Toshakhana case. The former Pakistani leader was sentenced to three years in Jail over the case.
According to the reports based on Lahore Police Chief Bilal Siddique Kamiana Imran was being transferred to Islamabad.
Imran as well as his lawyers were absent from court today when the verdict was delivered. The court imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on Imran.
The former Pakistan PM was found guilty over the case on the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) criminal complaint against the PTI chief for concealing details of Toshakhana gifts. He was charged with not declaring money earned from selling gifts he received while he was in office.
Imran Khan world famous cricket celebrity who captained Pakistan cricket to the world cup one time entered politics and became the Prime Minister in 2018. He was outed with a no-confidence motion and he is facing hundreds of legal battles.
