Dr. Ajith Mendis, the President of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, has addressed the allegations made by Member of Parliament Wasantha Yapa Bandara, asserting that these claims are entirely baseless.
According to Wasantha Yapa Bandara, the Total Parental Nutrition, a medicine imported and supplied by the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, is intended exclusively for the government’s medical supply sector and should not be sold to external entities.
Dr. Ajith Mendis emphasizes that the National Medicines Regulatory Authority has not engaged in the sale of any imported medicines to SLIM Pharmaceutical. He further underscores that the National Medicines Regulatory Authority exclusively conducts its medication sales through a designated sales representative, clarifying that SLIM Pharmaceutical has never functioned as a sales representative of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority.
As a result, Dr. Ajith Mendis, the Chairman of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, categorically denies the allegations of selling to SLIM Pharmaceutical and then repurchasing these medications, characterizing these claims as completely false.
