NMRA CEO resigns

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, Community Medicine Specialist Dr Sachin Semage, has tendered his resignation addressing a letter to the Directorate of the NMRA.

He has said that he was tendering his resignation since the NMRA called for his resignation.

Dr Semage is resigning when the COPE has summoned the NMRA before them.

Dr Semage was attached to the Sri Lanka Army as a community medicine specialist. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed him to the NMRA.

He opines that several Trade Unionists were dubiously planning to dissolve the NMRA and remove its management. It is a sinister plot, he has said.

He has stated that he realised how much corruption and mismanagement are taking place in the Health Sector and the government service.

Recalling his stint with the Army, he has said that it was his misfortune that he had to work with the Health Authorities.

He also paid a glowing tribute to Army Commander General Shavendra Silva for his upright administration,
