New Provincial Governors Appointed in Sri Lanka

The President has appointed capable individuals as the new governors of various provinces in Sri Lanka.

Central Province   Professor Sarath Abeykoon, a former Vice Chancellor of Peradeniya University, has been appointed the new governor.

Northern Province: Mr. Nagalingam Vaganayagam, a retired district governor known for his long tenure, has been sworn in. He previously served as the governor of Jaffna, Kilinochchi, and Mullaitivu districts.

Southern Province: Mr. Bandula Harishchandra, a senior administrative officer and former ministry secretary, is now the governor.

Eastern Province: Professor Jayantha Lal Ratnasekara, a former Vice Chancellor of Uva University, has taken on the role of governor.

Sabaragamuwa Province: Retired Supreme Court Judge Champa Janaki Rajaratne has been appointed as governor. She was part of the Supreme Court bench that handled cases related to fraud and corruption during the previous government.

Uva Province: Kapila Jayasekara, a veteran administrator and former secretary in various ministries, continues as governor.

North Western Province: Tissa Warnasuriya, a Former ministry secretary  has been appointed governor.

North Central Province: Wasanth Kumara Wimalasiri is the new governor.

Western Province: Hanif Yusuf has been appointed as the governor.

These appointments aim to strengthen the governance of each province.
