Police sources have confirmed that 23 officers from its Special Task Force (STF) have contracted Covid 19 raising the number of cases identified in the Police to 173. It is believed the new cluster is a sub-cluster of the Peliyagoda fish market and steps have been taken to quarantine their close contacts.
In addition, a number of steps have been taken to reduce the spread of the disease among STF personnel and they have been kept in small groups instead of being held in larger groups, police sources said.
