The Federation of National Organizations of which veteran author Gunadasa Amarasekara is a member has written to the Secretary of the Committee on High Posts opposing the appointment of Milinda Moragoda as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India.

In its letter, the organization claimed that Analyzing more than 150 cable messages sent by four US ambassadors since 2002 it has been revealed that Milinda Moragoda has acted as a US government spy.

“The messages, which were leaked by Wickileaks, did not directly state that he was an American spy. But reading the subtext on most of those cables makes that very clear” it said.

In addition, two court rulings revealed that he had misused his ministerial powers to underestimate state property and sell it to private companies loyal to him, the organization pointed out in its letter.

“I urge you not to nominate Milinda Moragoda as the appointment of such a person as the High Commissioner to a country that could have a significant impact on the national security of Sri Lanka would undermine public confidence in the overall diplomatic service,” it concluded.
