A lifeless, unclothed body within a residence in the Kopai area of Jaffna was found by the police yesterday (12).
The deceased has been identified as Ganapathipilla Mahendran.
Authorities have promptly relayed their findings to the Jaffna court, expressing the possibility of a homicide due to the presence of multiple cut wounds on the body.
The wife of the deceased provided her account to the police, revealing that on the day of the incident, she had departed with her children to attend a wedding in the village. While she was away, she received a call from a family relative, prompting her to return home. Upon her arrival, she was met with the lifeless body of her husband.
Following the directives of the Jaffna Magistrate, the deceased’s remains have been entrusted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for a thorough investigation. The Kopayi Police have initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the incident.
