Former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi has made history by breaking the record set by Tillakaratne Dilshan as the world’s oldest player to achieve the number 1 position in the ICC international ODI rankings after seven years.
Tillakaratne Dilshan held the record at the age of 38 years and 8 months when he claimed the top spot in the ICC One Day International rankings in June 2015. Mohammad Nabi surpassed this milestone at the age of 39 years and one month during the current tournament.

Notably, Mohammad Nabi is already the number 1 all-rounder in T20 internationals. His outstanding performance, including scoring 139 runs in the first ODI against Sri Lanka, propelled him to the pinnacle of both T20 and ODI rankings.
This achievement adds to the growing prominence of Afghanistan players in international cricket, with Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rahman also occupying top positions in the ICC rankings.
