The son of popular model Piyumii Hansamali has been placed under probation until February 16 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court in connection with the alleged assault of a three-wheeler driver.
He was arrested and produced before the Colombo Additional Magistrate yesterday over an assault incident that reportedly took place a few months ago in the Rajagiriya–Kalapaluwawa area.
According to facts revealed in court, the three-wheeler driver was attacked following a road accident involving a motorcycle on which the suspect and another person were travelling. It is alleged that after the accident, the model’s son summoned several of his friends and assaulted the three-wheeler driver.
The Welikada Police arrested the suspect along with six others in connection with the incident and produced them before court.
The injured three-wheeler driver was admitted to the National Hospital in Colombo for treatment.
The Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered that the suspect be produced for an identification parade on February 16. Further investigations are ongoing.
