A man has been arrested by the Kandy Children and Women’s Bureau at a private medical treatment center on Peradeniya Road, Kandy, in connection with an incident where a young woman who sought treatment for facial blemishes was allegedly molested.
According to the complaint, the young woman had visited the medical center yesterday afternoon (13) for treatment for facial blemishes. After receiving treatment from a doctor, she was informed that the cost would be Rs. 35,000.
As she only had Rs. 20,000 with her at the time, she requested permission to pay the remaining amount later. A person claiming to be an administrator at the medical center then approached her, offering a special concession of Rs. 5,000 and allowing her to settle the remaining Rs. 10,000 later.
The same individual, who also claimed to be a medical professional, allegedly examined her body and told her that she had additional blemishes that needed to be removed. The complaint states that he initially touched her feet under the pretext of examining them, and subsequently touched her back and chest.
Following the complaint, police summoned the suspect, recorded his statement, and arrested him. Further investigations are being carried out under the direction of Kandy Police Headquarters Chief Inspector Rasika Sampath, on the instructions of Kandy Divisional Senior Superintendent of Police Anuruddha Bandara Hakmana.
