Sri Lankan Vessel Seized in Maldives with 300 Kilos of Drugs

A Sri Lankan multi-day fishing vessel has been seized by Maldivian security forces in Maldivian waters on suspicion of transporting drugs.

The arrest was reportedly made based on information provided by Sri Lankan security agencies. Nearly 300 kilograms of narcotics, believed to belong to an organized criminal group in Sri Lanka, were being transported on the vessel.

Several fishermen onboard the vessel have also been arrested by Maldivian authorities.

According to police, a special team comprising officers from the Sri Lanka Police and Navy has left for the Maldives to coordinate further action regarding the incident.
