Kandy District parliamentarian and the chair of Kandy District Coordinating Committee Gunathila Rajapaksa has been admitted to the Army hospital this evening (03) due to the assault of SLPP Kandy District MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
It is reported that this assault took place after the ruling party group meeting chaired by the President this evening at the Presidential Secretariat. Eyewitnesses also say that MP Yadamini Gunawardena, who intervened to avoid the conflict, fell on the body of Gunathilaka Rajapaksa and fell to the ground.
It is learned that the cause of the conflict dates back to the last district coordination committee meeting. Kandy District Coordinating Committee Chairman Gunathilaka Rajapaksa has also been assigned to organize the Yatinuwara seat. But in the last coordination committee meeting, Gunathilaka Rajapakse criticized Mahindananda Aluthgamage for interfering in the organizational affairs of this constituency. Sources said that the brawl emerged during a conversation regarding that issue.
Insider sources say that Mahindananda is a Member of Parliament in Aluthgamage Kandy District who has a strong hatred deal with the Members of Parliament of his party.
