The Litro Gas Company has announced a significant increase in the prices of domestic LP gas cylinders, effective from midnight today.
According to the company, the price of the most widely used 12.5 kg cylinder has been raised by Rs. 775, bringing the new price to Rs. 4,765. This marks a substantial jump, pushing the cost close to Rs. 5,000 and adding further pressure on household budgets.
The smaller cylinders have also seen notable increases:
5 kg cylinder: Increased by Rs. 308 to Rs. 1,910
2.3 kg cylinder: Increased by Rs. 140 to Rs. 890
This is the latest in a series of price adjustments for cooking gas in Sri Lanka amid rising global energy costs and local economic factors. The hike is expected to have a direct impact on middle and low-income families who rely heavily on LP gas for daily cooking.
