Former Minister Johnston Fernando, who has been named as an accused in the May 09 crime, has filed a petition in the Court of Appeal seeking an injunction preventing his arrest.
Petitioner Johnston Fernando has named the IGP and the Director of the CID as respondents in his petition to the Court of Appeal stating that it was against the law for the CID to name itself as a suspect and prepare to arrest him on the advice of the Attorney General.
He was recently named by the CID as a suspect in connection with the attack on the Galle Face peaceful protest.
