The election of the Government Medical Officers’ Association is scheduled to be held next month and Dr Jayaruwan Bandara has filed nominations against Dr Anuruddha Padeniya for the post of President this time.

Dr Priyantha Atapattu is contesting with Dr Jayaruwan Bandara as the Secretary for the election to be held on June 26 and another medical team is ready to assist them, sources said.

Like Dr Padeniya, Dr Jayaruwan Bandara has close ties with the government and is said to have been a political supporter of both Mahinda Rajapaksa and Namal Rajapaksa.

However, medical sources told Lankasara that Dr Padeniya’s team has also started planning, strategic and publicity campaigns to compete with this team.
