A 22-year-old student from the Faculty of Management at Jaffna University tragically committed suicide yesterday (17) by hanging herself at her home in Konaville, Kilinochchi.
The student, identified as Vasantakumar Dilakshiya, had reportedly taken her own life two days prior after returning home from Jaffna University.
Her brother, upon discovering her, rushed her to Kilinochchi hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The incident is currently under investigation by Kilinochchi police. Her body has been placed at Kilinochchi hospital for post-mortem examination.
The motive behind the tragic suicide remains unclear, and the family expressed their shock over the incident.
