A Husband has fatally shot his wife before turning the firearm on himself in their residence due to a family dispute, according to the Nuwara Eliya Police who uncovered the bodies at their residence yesterday (07) night.
The victims, Anton Das (28) and Nathan Rita (26), identified as husband and wife, have passed away around 10:30 PM yesterday (07). Their residence was located at No. 05, Toppas, Nuwara Eliya.
Responding to a distress call received by the Nuwara Eliya Police Station, officers swiftly arrived at the scene. Within a room of the house, they found the lifeless bodies of the couple, along with a small domestically made firearm.
Currently, the police are preserving the bodies at the scene for further procedures. A magisterial inquest is scheduled for today (08) to investigate the details of the tragedy.
The Nuwara Eliya Police Station will conduct further investigations into this incident.
