The ongoing heavy rains on the western flanks of the Central Mountains have activated the stunning St. Clair and Devon Falls, creating a captivating scene with robust water flows.
In addition to the natural spectacle, the sluice gate of the upper Kothmale reservoir has automatically opened on the same day due to the continuous heavy rain in the upper Kothmale catchment areas.
Engineers responsible for the reservoir have issued a cautionary statement, advising residents on both sides of the Kotmala Oya below the reservoir dam to exercise caution. They warn that if there is further heavy rain in the water catchment area, the remaining sluice gates of the reservoir will also open automatically.
