A new company will be set up under the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation for this purpose and this company will soon start operations as the third operator in the local market, said Minister Dr. Pathirana.
“This oil refinery process produces a significant amount of gas. It can meet nearly 10 percent of our gas demand. In addition, it is stated that this production could be further increased in the future with the future development plans of the Petroleum Refinery. In this situation, the new gas company will enter a competitive market, he said.
