The  Government Medical Officers Association warns that they will reveal the health ministry official who withholds doctors’ appointments until the daughter finishes her final exams. The GMNOA said that they will expose this officer on Monday (11).

Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the media spokesperson of the association, states that there is no proper program in the Ministry of Health to give the necessary appointments to the 400 doctors who have completed the internship until the daughter of the relevant officer is included in the group that is going to receive the internship.

He pointed out that the daughter of the relevant official of the Ministry of Health is currently studying at the Kothalawala Medical Faculty and she and her team have not yet completed their medical degree in the medical faculty and it will take a few more months to complete it.

Dr. Chamil points out that the Ministry of Health is implementing a procrastination program by not recruiting the students who have completed the degree for the internship until the completion of the graduation of that group.

The 400 doctors currently undergoing internship will complete their training by the 27th of June and the doctors who have completed their medical degree should be assigned to the hospital for internship on the same day or close to it.

The association states that the Ministry of Health should notify the Sri Lanka Medical Council in writing to prepare the necessary program for this, but no such awareness has been done so far.

However, the association warns that if the Ministry of Health does not announce that this problem will be resolved by next June 27, it will have to enter into strict professional measures.
