The Moratuwa District Court yesterday (23) issued an interim order appointing an Interim Board to replace the current officials of the Government Medical Officers’ Association and calling for re-nominations and holding a new election.
Following a petition filed by a team of doctors, including Dr Jayaruwan Bandara, the judge ordered that Dr Jayaruwan Bandara, whose nomination was rejected, be given the opportunity to hand over the nomination again.
The court order issued yesterday is due to be handed over to the Government Medical Officers ‘Association by next Monday and according to this order, the officials of GMOA including Dr Anuruddha Padeniya will be invalidated.
Dr Padeniya, who has been the President of the Government Medical Officers’ Association for five consecutive years, is to lose his position.
