The Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Dr. S.H. Munasinghe has instructed in writing to Director of Kurunegala Teaching Hospital that suspended salary of Dr. Mohommed Shafi, the controversial medical officer who was sent on compulsory leave with the allegation of forceful sterlization. The Health Secretary has orderd to pay all dues for the period in a lettee dated on 06-12-2021.
The doctor had been sent on compulsory leave from 24.05.2019 without pay.
The Health Secretary has also ordered the Director of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital to immediately state the reason for non-payment of salaries, despite the Establishments Code clearly stating how to deal with an officer who has been sent on compulsory leave.
