The main road connecting Gampola and Nuwara Eliya has been temporarily closed to traffic starting this afternoon (26th). The Kotmale Police made this decision due to a high risk of falling rocks.
According to reports, heavy rains have caused large rocks in a tea estate near the Geradi Ella area to become unstable. Since these rocks could fall onto the main road at any time, authorities have stopped vehicle movement to ensure public safety.
The Kotmale Police have requested all drivers to use alternative routes until the road is declared safe and reopened.
