Former Defense Secretary Hemasiri Fernando has been acquitted of 855 indictments, including failing to prevent the Easter Sunday terrorist attack.
The supreme court Trial at Bar comprised with the Judges Namal Balalle, Aditya Patabendi and Mohamed Isardeen ruled that the former defense secretary was not guilty of the charges. He was charged with 855 counts, including negligence on the part of the victims. After considering the indictment, the court ordered his release without summoning the defendants.
