An Indian tourist couple on their honeymoon had their belongings stolen from their room while they were staying at the Jetwin Samanvilla Hotel.
Bento, the alleged thief, managed to steal two necklaces valued at Rs. 330,000 ($3,180), spectacles worth Rs. 49,500, and a bottle of foreign liquor worth Rs. 66,000, summing up to a total loss of Rs. 750,000 ($7,500).
The incident took place on the third night of their stay, after the couple had a honeymoon party at the hotel restaurant. Regrettably, they forgot to lock their room door, providing an opportunity for the thief to strike.
The couple realized the theft the next morning and promptly reported it to the police, who are now conducting further investigations into the matter.
