The Polonnaruwa District Disaster Management Office reports that continuous heavy rain has displaced 905 people from 257 families across four regional secretariats.

The affected areas include Tamankaduwa, Higurakgoda, Lankapura, and Dimbulagala Divisional Secretariat Divisions due to the overflow of the Mahaweli River. Relief efforts are underway for the displaced families, with 21 families being provided necessary assistance at Manampitiya Tamil Maha Vidyalaya.

The displaced families in Kotaleya, Gallalella, Dimbulana, Nelumwila, and Wijayarajapura Moragaswewa are seeking shelter with relatives. The Tamankaduwa Divisional Secretariat is reported as the most affected area. Assistant Director of Polonnaruwa Disaster Management, Ranjith Alahakon, stated that relief measures are being coordinated through the divisional secretaries to assist the flood-affected families in the district.
